The Origins

GRID, a team-based fitness sport, was created by Tony Budding in 2013. After early challenges and evolving league models—including the NPGL—it found long-term success with today’s United Grid League.

The Rise of UGL

Launched as the Florida Grid League in 2017, the UGL has grown steadily, reaching 1.6 million followers and nearly 2 million livestream views. In 2024, it rebranded to reflect national expansion, with new teams launching outside Florida in 2025.

Competitive Legacy

The first champions were the Tampa Bay Brigade, with Ryan Verdecia as MVP (2017). Atlanta Wild and Amanda Fischer earned the titles in 2024. A Hall of Fame is coming soon to celebrate the sport’s standout athletes and milestones.

From Meet Our Wolves

Founded by a brother/sister duo in Ruby George and Mather Wiswall, the League director team is rounded out by Head of Competition Brandon McMillan and Season Director Lynnsey Evans.
